GL Events Equestrian Sport has been awarded the right to plan and deliver equestrian and Para equestrian events at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

The subsidiary of the Lyon-based GL Events Group was formed with the French Equestrian Federation, and has been selected to organise event operations following a call for tenders by the Paris 2024 Organising Committee.

This includes the development of temporary training and competition facilities, traffic management and site security.

It is also set to install hospitality structures, overlay services, athlete areas and grandstands.

Equestrian and Para equestrian events at the Games are due to be held at the iconic Château de Versailles.

Riding events within modern pentathlon are also included under the contract, and could mark the last time the discipline features in the sport if the International Modern Pentathlon Union's plans to replace it with obstacle discipline go ahead.

GL Events Equestrian Sport managing director Sylvie Robert claimed that the firm could be trusted to ensure a high-level event.

"GL Events Equestrian Sport is extremely proud of this prestigious selection to support Paris 2024 in staging the equestrian and Para equestrian events of Paris 2024," Robert said.

"Our teams would like to thank Paris 2024, the French Equestrian Federation and the International Equestrian Federation for their confidence.

"GL Events' know-how and expertise will be fully deployed to ensure an optimal experience for attendees and participants and flawless execution, with at the heart of its concerns, the safety and well-being of the public, the riders and their horses for the duration of the events."

"The organisation of all equestrian events - show jumping, eventing, dressage and modern pentathlon - within the magnificent gardens of the Château de Versailles is a testimony to our high level of expertise in offering the public a unique experience during world-class events.

"This new contract provides yet another confirmation of the experience and professionalism of our teams who have once again succeeded in meeting the requirements of a project of this magnitude under optimal and environmentally friendly conditions."

Equestrian events at the Paris 2024 Olympics are due to be held from July 27 to August 6, followed by modern pentathlon competition from August 8 to 11.

Para equestrian events at Paris 2024 are scheduled for September 3 to 7.
