Norway’s Jenny Stene, who earned silver in the women’s 50 metres rifle three positions event at the World Shooting Championships in Cairo, went one better today in the mixed team version of the discipline.

At the International Shooting Sport Federation flagship event Stene, who earned her country a Paris 2024 quota spot in taking second place behind China’s Miao Wanru in the individual event, teamed up successfully with Simon Claussen.

 As Norway 2 they defeated the Denmark 2 pairing of Stephanie Grundsoee and Steffen Olsen 17-9 in the final.

The bronze-medal match was won 16-0 by the Germany 1 pairing of David Koenders and Anna Janssen, who overpowered their Switzerland 2 challengers Jan Lochbiler and Franziska Stark.

China maintained their high level of success by taking gold in the 25m rapid fire pistol men's team event, with Tokyo 2020 individual bronze medallist Li Yuehong, Lu Zhiming and Zhang Jueming beating Ukraine’s trio of Maksym Horodynets, Pavlo Korostylov and Denys Kushnirov 16-6 in the final.

Bronze went to South Korea, for whom Lee Jaekyoon, Kim Seojun and Lee Gunhyeok defeated the Czech trio of Martin Podhrasky, Matej Rampula and Tomas Tehan 16-6.

Further gold was claimed by Chinese shooters in the concluding final of the day, the 50m pistol mixed team event, where Ranxin Jiang and Bowen Zhang - China 2 - combined for a score of 17 to defeat the Mongolia 2 pairing of Munkhzul Tsogbadrakh and Davaakhuu Enkhtaivan by eight points.

Bronze also went to China 1, with Li Xi and Liu Jinyao beating Nino Salukvadze and Tsotne Machavariani of Georgia 17-9.
