Video assistant referee (VAR) technology was under discussion when teqball officials met for a two-day training session in Budapest.

Eighteen of the world’s top teqball referees were invited to attend the meeting, organised by the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ) headquarters in the Hungarian capital.

The training session took place on September 27 and 28 prior to the Budapest leg of the European Teqball Tour.

Referees were given the opportunity to discuss their previous experiences with VAR during theoretical training.

FITEQ claimed all the referees were "confident" with the technology following the two-day session.

VAR was first trialled by FITEQ in a test event in Naples in Italy in June before being used at the World Series event in Kraków in Poland last month and the finals of the Budapest European Teqball Tour on October 2.

"As the governing body for the world’s fastest growing sport, FITEQ is always looking for ways to ensure teqball stays at the cutting edge of sport, and this includes adopting the latest technology," a statement from FITEQ read.
