The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) has opened applications for an Athlete Representative for the sport of goalball.

Any registered goalball player in the IBSA Sport Administration System, over the age of 21, is eligible.

To apply candidates should send an application with their qualifications and why they believe they should be selected for the role to [email protected]

To be considered for the election, candidates must have written support from their respective IBSA member federations.

Candidates have until September 15 to submit their applications, with a list of eligible candidates set to be published by the IBSA on October 1.

Voting is due to take place during this year’s Goalball World Championships, set to be held in Matosinhos, Portugal, from December 5 to 17.

The World Championships were due to be held in Hangzhou, China, but with the city unable to host due to coronavirus restrictions, the event was moved to Matosinhos.

At the same time as the final candidate list is published, details of the voting process are set to be announced.
