A double from Hildah Magaia helped South Africa win their first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations football title with a 2-1 victory over hosts Morocco in Rabat.

Magaia gave South Africa the lead just after the hour mark at the Stade Prince Mouley Abdallah after being played through by Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Magaia doubled Banyana Banyana's lead eight minutes later with a composed finish to put them in control of the contest.

Morocco ensured a tense finish as with ten minutes remaining Rosella Ayane halved the deficit after being set up by Fatima Tagnaout, drilling the ball into the bottom corner to put the Atlas Lionesses in with a chance.

In front of a 52,000 strong crowd Morocco pressed for a leveller during nine minutes of added time, but South Africa held on for a memorable victory as they claimed a first women’s continental title.
