The eight-time continental champions Germany ended their group stage campaign in style with a dominant 3-0 triumph against Finland at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes.

Germany had already won the group with a game to spare but still produced another impressive performance against the already eliminated Finns in front of a crowd of 20,721.

It took 40 minutes for Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's side to make the breakthrough when Sophia Kleinherne headed in from six-yards following Giulia Gwinn's pinpoint cross from the byeline.

Alexandra Popp then doubled the lead within three minutes of the restart as she scored for the third game in a row with half-time substitute Kathrin-Julia Hendrich claiming the assist.

Another replacement, Nicole Anyomi, made it 3-0 with a low drive that nestled into the bottom corner.

Germany are due to play Group A runners-up Austria at the Brentford Community Stadium in London on Thursday (July 21).

Germany have been European champions on eight of the 12 occasions the tournament has been staged, including six consecutive titles between 1995 and 2013.

In the other Group B match at the Brentford Community Stadium, Spain set up a quarter-final tie with England after an unconvincing late 1-0 victory against Denmark.

Marta Cardona nodded in the 90th-minute winner to confirm Spain's progression although a draw would have been enough for La Roja.

Jorge Vilda's side dominated possession against Denmark but struggled to break down a stubborn defence in front of 16,041 supporters. 

The Danes created the first chance through Chelsea forward Pernille Harder, who was a constant threat throughout, as she set up Karen Holmgaard who spurned the opportunity with an extra touch that allowed the defence to recover.

Spain, ranked seventh in the world, were one of the pre-tournament favourites given a large portion of their squad come from a Barcelona side who have reached back-to-back Champions League finals.

The loss of Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas on the eve of the tournament means they have yet to reach top gear.

They are scheduled to play England at the Falmer Stadium in Brighton on Wednesday (July 20).
