The Chinese climber's best result previously was third at the IFSC World Cup in Villars, while Noya Cardona's best result prior to Chamonix came at Salt Lake City earlier this season, where he finished seventh.

Aspar Aspar from Indonesia claimed the bronze medal for his seventh podium on the circuit, beating compatriot Veddriq Leonardo, who missed the chance to finish on the podium for the fourth time this season.

He had won in Salt Lake City and Seoul and has placed in the top four in all five legs this season that he has competed in.

After setting an Asian record in qualification with 6.74sec, Deng won her second consecutive event after claiming her maiden gold in Villars last time out.

This time she defeated Poland's Aleksandra Kalucka, who made the podium for the fifth time, but the IFSC World Cup gold still eludes her.

It is her fourth medal of the season.

Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi of Indonesia matched her best World Cup performance with another bronze medal, a week after making the podium for the first time in Villars.

She defeated compatriot Indonesia's Rajiah Sallsabillah, whose fourth-place finish is her best to date.
