The Philippines’ men’s team impressed on the final day of the qualifying draw at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Asia Cup at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The Philippines first beat Indonesia 21-15 before Joseph Eriobu delivered a deadly buzzer beater against Jordan with the match tied at 19-19 as he made it two wins from two.

They have been drawn in Pool C alongside China and Singapore.

China dominated their qualifying draw, beating Sri Lanka 21-8 and Tonga 21-6.

India made it to Pool A with a 20-19 win over Turkmenistan and 21-15 victory against Palestine.

They are set to play South Korea, who defeated Iran 19-15 and Kuwait 17-11 to progress to the same group.

In the women’s qualification, New Zealand produced thumping wins over India and Palestine.

They bettered India 17-9 before sweeping past Palestine 21-5 to enter Pool C, where they are due to play China and Australia.

Uzbekistan are scheduled to face Mongolia and Thailand in Pool A following 17-11 and 21-7 wins over Malaysia and Vietnam.

Thailand beat the Philippines 13-11 and Jordan 16-7 in their qualifying matches.

The main competition is due to start tomorrow with four pools of three teams.

The top team in each group will qualify for the knockout phase.

The competition is scheduled to continue until Sunday (July 10).
