It is hoped that the Games can be held alongside or following the African Games next year, which Ghana is poised host for the first time.

Deen is also President of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, and a member of the Organising Committee for Accra 2023.

He urged sports administrators to work towards ensuring that the African Para Games can take place, insisting that it represents a big opportunity for Ghana.

"Now we have the unique opportunity to host the first African Paralympic Games in Ghana during or after the African Games in 2023," Deen told Ghana's HSTV.

"Let's put our selfish and personal interests away and be positive in managing sports in Ghana.

"We have to be vibrant, popular, and powerful to make a statement in African sports."
