Germany's Florian Unruh and Michelle Kroppen, who topped qualification in the men's and women's recurve competitions, lost their respective finals on home soil at the European Archery Championships in Munich.

Spanish archer and second seed Miguel Alvarino Garcia claimed the men’s gold medal by beating Unruh 6-2.

Mete Gazoz of Turkey won the bronze medal match 6-4 against third seed Daniel Castro of Spain.

Turkey were more successful in the women’s final, after Gulnaz Coskun defeated Kroppen 6-2.

A second German would join Kroppen on the podium after Katharina Bauer emphatically won 6-0 in the bronze medal match against Austrian Elisabeth Straka.

More heartbreak had come earlier in the afternoon for Kroppen and Unruh, who lost the mixed recurve team final to the Dutch pairing of Rick van der Ven and Gaby Schloesser.

Italians Tatiana Andreoli and Mauro Nespoli took the bronze medal, beating Ukrainians Oleksii Hunbin and Veronika Marchenko 6-2.

Italy won the men's recurve team final too as Federico Musolei, Alessandro Paoli and Mauro Nespoli defeated Miguel Alvarino Garcia, Daniel Castro and Pablo Acha of Spain 5-1.

Bronze went to the Swiss trio of Florian Faber, Thomas Rufer and Keziah Chabin, who defeated Britons Tom Hall, Patrick Huston and Alex Wise 5-3.

Finally, Kroppen did take gold in the women's recurve team event along with Charline Schwarz and Katharina Bauer, defeating Turkish archers Yasemin Anagoz, Gulnaz Coskun and Ezgi Basaran 5-4.
