Tokyo 2020 Olympian Zhang Xingjia headlined the first invitational competition at the Tonglu Equestrian Centre, which is the designated venue for the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games equestrian event, since the facility was completed.

The 23-year-old, who was one of three athletes to finish the tournament without a single penalty point, won the jumping discipline.

Other events to take place were dressage, eventing team cross-country and eventing team and individual jumping.

The "Exciting Hangzhou" Tonglu Equestrian Eventing Invitational 2022 stretched for three days with the opening occurring on June 7 and the award ceremony capping off the event today.

"This event will provide the reference for the optimization, improvement and promotion of the venue to present a more perfect competition venue for the Asian Games," Jiang Guijiao, the executive director of venue facility operation and maintenance, said.

The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games were planned to be staged between September 10 and 25 but it was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions in China

The new dates for the event are yet to be confirmed.

The Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, which was originally set for October 9 to 15, have also been postponed while the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games, due to be held from December 20 to 28 this year, have been cancelled.
