The first-ever Women's European Blind Football Championship begins tomorrow in Pescara.

Two teams, Germany and England, are due to contest the tournament at the Italian venue.

They will play tomorrow and then again on Sunday (June 5) to determine the champion.

The tournament is being organised by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), and is a precursor to a first World Championship for women.

The IBSA has also announced continental women's blind football events for Asia and the Americas.

These are all scheduled to be played before British city Birmingham is due to stage the first-ever Women's World Championship as part of the 2023 IBSA World Games.

Enugu in Nigeria had been due to host a Women’s World Championship in November last year, but COVID-19 restrictions led to it being cancelled.

A men's tournament, from June 8 to 18, is set to follow in Pescara this month.
