Egypt has continued their domination at the African Wrestling Championships as the under-20 events got underway in El Jadida in Morocco.

Several of the Greco-Roman and women's wrestling titles were once again won by Egypt, including Emad Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Elemam Ghaly rising to the top of the rankings of the 67 kilograms Greco-Roman division.

This success continued into the heavier weight categories as Omar Essam Elsayed Abdelalim Okil claimed the 77kg title while Fares Mohamed Abdelsattar Ghaly secured gold in the 83kg class.

Kareem Adel Elsayed Youssef Eldesouky followed by winning in the 87kg group and Khaled Elsaid Ahmed Mohamed Hassan triumphing in 92kg.

Fekry Mohamed Fekry Eissa capped off Egypt’s run in the Greco-Roman discipline by defeating the hosts' Seif Eddine Ahani in the 130kg event.

Egypt enjoyed more success in women’s wrestling as Shaimaa Atef Barakat Mohamed struck 50kg gold and Louji Walid Khalf Yassin bettered the 55kg competition.

Farah Ali Hamada Mohamed Hussein and Menatalla Ahmed Osman Mostafa Badran completed the haul of medals for their country.

Tunisia's Zaineb Sghaier, who won the women's 72kg senior title in 2020, prevented Heba Sapry Mohamed Abdelnaby Ibrahim from adding to Egypt’s success in the same category.

The African Wrestling Championships is planned to continue tomorrow.
