Mehdi Mohammad Balihamzehdeh took a 5-1 points victory against Uzbekistan's Rustam Assakalov in the under-97 kilograms decider.

Iranian Balihamzehdeh made a storming start to the match as he went 4-0 up in the first round before closing out the win in a tame second round.

His compatriot Rasoul Sadegh Garmsiri also won via points in the under-82kg class at the Buyant Ukhaa Sports Palace.

He surged into a 3-0 lead against Dias Kalen before the Kazakhstani fighter pulled two quick points back just in time for the end of the first round.

A cagey second period followed and ended 1-1, giving Garmsiri a 4-3 victory.

The final Iranian gold medal of the day came courtesy of Mohammad Reza Hojatollah Mokhtari, who bagged a 4-1 points win against Abylaikhan Amzeyev of Kazakhstan at under-72kg.

Kazakhstan finally tasted victory in the under-67kg as Meiirzhan Shermakhanbet defeated South Korea's back-to-back Asian Games champion Ryu Han-su 11-3 win after the bout was stopped early because of the Shermankhanbet's dominance.

The first round was closely fought, ending 4-3 to Shermakhanbet, before a 7-0 demolition ensued in the second period.

Kyrgyzstan's world silver medallist Zholaman Sharshenbekov prevented a fourth Iranian gold taking, defeating Mehdi Seifollah Mohsen Nejad after he was forced to withdraw through injury.

Sharsenbekov's brother also won gold yesterday in Mongolia.

"Thanks to God this Asian Championships has been successful for us," Sharshenbekov said.

"We have been preparing for this tournament with the whole team for quite a long time.

"With God's help, we will win the Olympics many times in the future as well."
