New women's world number one Nouran Gohar reached the last four of the PSA British Open ©PSA World Tour

Men’s and women’s top seeds Ali Farag and Nouran Gohar reached the semi-finals of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour’s Allam British Open after four-game wins at the University of Hull.

In the men’s quarter-finals, Egypt’s Farag came from a game down to defeat compatriot Tarek Momen 6-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-5.

Elsewhere in the men’s draw new world number one and defending champion Paul Coll of New Zealand Diego Elias of Peru 11-7, 11-8, 11-8.

The match of the day saw world number 10 Mazen Hesham reach the last four of a PSA World Tour Platinum event for the first time since 2015, as the Egyptian beat Nicolas Mueller of Switzerland 11-7, 11-13, 11-3, 11-13, 11-5.

In the remaining quarter-final in the men’s draw, Mostafa Asal of Egypt beat Colombian Miguel Rodriguez 12-10, 11-7, 11-5.

The semi-final line-up sees Farag face Hesham, while Asal takes on Coll.

In the women’s quarters, top seed and newly crowned world number one Gohar also overcame a fellow Egyptian, defeating Nour El Tayeb 11-4, 11-7, 5-11, 11-9.

Second seed Hania El Hammamy triumphed in straight games, with the Egyptian beating Tinne Gilis of Belgium 11-4, 11-3, 11-5.

Third seed Amanda Sobhy of the United States was also a straight games winner, beating compatriot Olivia Fiechter 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.

The remaining quarter-final saw New Zealand’s Joelle King overcome England’s Sarah-Jane Perry 12-10, 11-9, 11-5.

In the last four El Hammamy takes on King and Sobhy faces Gohar.

The semi-finals in both the men’s and women’s draws are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
