New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr has been named International Cricket Council's (ICC) Women’s Player of the Month for February with India’s Shreyas Iyer taking the men's award for his superb batting.

Kerr finished top run scorer in the home series against India with 353 runs including an unbeaten 119.

Her seven wickets in the series came at 5.78.

She was chosen ahead of illustrious names such as Indian captain Mithali Raj and all-rounder Deepti Sharma.

"Amelia Kerr is growing into her role as a genuine all-rounder in the New Zealand team," former Ireland international and jury member Isobel Joyce said.

"She’s been a world-class leg spinner for a number of years, but now her batting adds even more value to her spot in the team and makes her one of the best cricketers in the world."

Iyer was chosen on the back of his match-winning innings of 80 against the West Indies in the home one day international series.

He was even more dominant in the T20 series against Sri Lanka when he was chosen as Player of the Series after three unbeaten half-centuries which included 20 fours and seven sixes.

"Throughout the month, Shreyas showed tremendous consistency and control," Sri Lanka’s panel member Russell Arnold said.

"What really stood out for me was his composure as he battles for a regular place in the India line-up.

"He totally dominated opposition bowlers and proved very hard to bowl at, scoring runs all-round the wicket and attacking the bowlers at the right moments."
