Fan, who also won his singles quarter-final yesterday, was particularly impressive as the duo held off Uda and Togami with a 3-1 scoreline that was perhaps not reflective of the Japanese pair's performance.

In the women's singles, Wang Manyu of China overcame her compatriot and world number one Sun Yingsha 4-3 in a shock victory that lasted almost an hour and a half.

The world number four Wang eventually triumphed 7-11, 12-10, 9-11, 12-10, 11-9, 12-14, 11-8 in a back-and-forth final.

It is the first time in the tournament that Wang has dropped a game, after sweeping her previous four opponents 3-0.

She will face Chen Meng in an all-Chinese final following her defeat of countrywoman Wang Yidi in the other half of the bracket.

Chen was dominant in the early stages but almost blew it as Wang levelled the score going into the decider.

However, the world number two showed her class to prevail 11-3, 13-11, 9-11, 11-4, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8.

Despite being a higher ranking than her fellow finalist Chen has not been as clinical, dropping two games before today's fixture.

The action continues tomorrow with the women's doubles final between China's Wang Manyu and Sun Yingsha and the Japanese pair of Hina Hayata and Mima Ito.

The men's singles semi-finals are also scheduled for tomorrow with Ma Long of China taking on his compatriot Liang Jingkun while Fan meets Uda once again.
