A roster of 17 players has been announced to represent the United States as they chase a record fourth consecutive gold medal at the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing doing so during the intermission for a National Hockey League game featuring the Nashville Predators.

A total of 11 of these have represented the US at the Paralympics before, with the other six set to make their debuts.

Head coach of the team, David Hoff claimed he was excited with the team selected.

"This is a real dynamic group of athletes and every player brings something unique to the table," he said.

"I want to congratulate all the players on achieving this honour and thank them for their efforts they've put forth thus far, but we all know this is just the beginning.

"We're looking forward to growing as a group as we look ahead and prepare for Beijing."

Of the 17 players, 14 of these were part of the US team that won its second consecutive title and fifth gold medal at last year's Para Ice Hockey World Championships in Ostrava.

As defending Paralympic and world champions, the US are ranked number one in the world and have won the Paralympic gold medal at four of the last five Games.

Josh Pauls captains the team again, having been part of the three gold-medal-winning teams so far in his career.

Two-time Paralympic gold medallists return too, including Jen Lee, Kevin McKee, Rico Roman and Brody Roybal.

Declan Farmer, the scorer of both goals in their Pyeongchang 2018 final victory over Canada, also returns as a two-time Paralympic champion.

Roybal was named tournament Most Valuable Player at last year's World Championships.

Ralph DeQuebec, Noah Grove, Jack Wallace and Josh Misiewicz are to make their second Paralympic appearances.

Retired Marine Travis Dodson is to compete in his third Games and second in ice hockey, having been a Para Nordic skier in 2014.

World champions David Eustace and Joseph Woodke are to make their Paralympic debuts, as is two-time world champion Kyle Zych.

Ice hockey at Beijing 2022 is scheduled to take place from March 5 to 13 at the National Indoor Stadium in the Chinese capital.
