The Championships were moved from Königssee following damage caused by the floods in Germany last year.

Competition is due to begin in the skeleton tomorrow, with the women's events to be followed by the men's.

There is an age limit of 23 for the skeleton, with separate competitions being held for athletes aged under 20.

A total of 20 athletes are on the start list for the women's skeleton and 19 for the men's in the upper age bracket.

Last year's women's under-20 champion Anastasiia Tsyganova of Russia is set to feature in the under-23 competition at the championships, with Germany's Lukas David Nydegger doing likewise on the men's side.

For the bobsleigh events, competitors must be under 26 or reach the age of 26 from October 1 2021 to March 31 2022, with a separate category for under-23s.

Races are set to begin with the two-man bobsleigh and women's monobob on Saturday (January 22), with the four-man and two-women events set to bring the championships to a close on Sunday (January 23).

The women's monobob events have been added to the schedule for this year's championships.

Training in Innsbruck for the skeleton began on Sunday (January 16) with bobsleigh training the following day.

Germany topped the medal table at this event in St Moritz last year, winning four golds.

Russia earned three titles, with hosts Switzerland, Romania and France earning one apiece.
