Mongolia's Olympic bronze medallist and former world champion Mönkhbatyn Urantsetseg has announced her retirement from judo.

Urantsetseg, third in the under-48 kilograms class at last year's postponed Olympic Games in Tokyo, has decided to focus on a career in mixed martial arts.

The 31-year-old leaves judo having won four World Championship medals, including gold in Rio de Janeiro in 2013.

She is also an Asian Games gold medallist, a two-time Asian champion and multiple winner on the International Judo Federation Grand Slam circuit, including in Tashkent and Tbilisi last year.

The Mongolian lightweight also won the Masters four times in a row between 2013 and 2017.

A former athlete in the sport of sambo, winning the world title in 2010, Urantsetseg has targeted success at the highest level of professional mixed martial arts.

According to JudoInside, Urantsetseg has set her sights on winning an Ultimate Fighting Championship belt.
