Work on the main façade of the International Sambo and Boxing Center in Russian capital Moscow has been completed as the new building continues to take shape.

Rafik Zagrutdinov, head of Moscow’s Construction Department, claimed the under-construction Luzhniki sports complex "takes on a complete look" after the "bulk of the installation of façade cassettes made of lucid" had been put in place.

Acoustic ceiling panels with a "unique stainless subsystem" are also set to be installed with construction on the building scheduled to finish later this year.

The total area of the façade is expected to cover 23,000 square metres.

The building is designed with stained glass windows and a mirrored ceiling, allowing people watch the action from the street outside.

As well as competition and training areas for both sambo and boxing, there will also be fitness and medical centres and a hotel.

"The emphasis in the new centre will be placed not only on comfortable and modern conditions for competitions and training, but also on educational programmes," a statement from the International Sambo Federation read.

"The facility provides educational and methodological classes, on the basis of which training sessions for athletes and advanced training of coaches and referees will be held, and the process will be led by world-class specialists."
