The women's team from the Czech Republic has been withdrawn from curling's World Qualification Event in Lohja after two members tested positive for COVID-19.

Three positive coronavirus cases have been reported by the World Curling Federation (WCF) following entry testing in Finland.

Alžběta Baudyšová's team delegation, with the exception of one person who travelled alone, are required to self-isolate as those who tested negative are viewed as close contacts.

The WCF allowed for a replacement team to be sent, but the Czech Curling Association elected to withdraw from the competition instead.

"After the proper consideration Czech Curling Association has decided to not send the replacement team to World Qualification Event," said Eleonora Vydrova, national teams coordinator of the Czech Curling Association.

The event at the Kisakallio Sports Institute is taking place in a bubble environment to guard against the risks posed by COVID-19.

The Czech women will be classified as "Did Not Start", being ranked bottom of the seven teams due to be in attendance.

The Brazilian men and Kazakhstan's women both withdrew from the World Qualification Event due to travel complications caused by COVID-19.

Competition is scheduled to start tomorrow, with places at the full World Championships on offer.
