Sweden's Sandra Näslund and German Florian Wilmsmann topped qualification on the latest leg of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Cross World Cup in Nakiska in Canada, prior to tomorrow's finals.

Näslund, who has won all but one leg of the FIS Ski Cross World Cup this season, was quickest again in women's qualifying, crossing the line in 1min 13.21sec in front of home skier Brittany Phelan.

Marielle Thompson, the only other skier to win a World Cup race this season, was third.

India Sherret and Hannah Schmidt made it four Canadians in a row - a distance off the top three - and defending World Cup champion Fanny Smith of Switzerland was down in sixth.

Alizee Baron of France and Austria's Andrea Limbacher completed the top eight seeds.

Germany's Wilmsmann was the fastest skier in men's qualification in 1:09.89.

Reece Howden of Canada is in an encouraging position for tomorrow after qualifying second, in front of Tristan Takats of Austria and Sweden's David Mobärg.

The top eight is completed by Canadian Brady Leman, France's Terence Tchiknavorian, Marc Bischofberger of Switzerland and Francois Place of France.

World Cup leader Bastien Midol of France was 10th.
