The semi-final line-up was determined at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) World Flag Football Championships after a packed second day of competition in Jerusalem.

Four teams advanced to the last eight of the men’s event with 100 per cent records.

The United States - defending champions - sealed top spot in Group A after four consecutive wins.

The US team overcame India 62-0 in their first match of the day, before beating Spain 54-28.

Panama clinched a 32-14 victory over Austria to lead the Group B standings on four wins, with their opponents left settling for second place.

Italy finished as Group C winners following a 48-38 win over Denmark, with the two teams both advancing to the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Five consecutive wins saw Mexico triumph in Group D, while Germany were second on four wins and one defeat.

Germany were unable to upset the US in the quarter-finals, falling to a 64-18 loss to the tournament favourites.

The US will face Panama in the semi-finals, after they overcame Denmark 39-33.

Mexico maintained their winning run when they overcame France 48-28 to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Mexico will play Italy, who edged Austria 27-24.

The US proved equally strong in the women’s competition after wrapping up Group A with four consecutive wins, which included a 46-0 triumph against Spain.

Group B saw Panama record four straight wins, including a 43-14 success against second--placed Italy.

Mexico finished the four-team Group C with three victories, while two victories and a tied match with Israel proved enough for Brazil to win Group D.

The US proved too strong for Japan in the quarter-finals, recording a 40-24 victory.

The closest quarter-final match saw Austria end Panama's unbeaten record by winning 20-19.

Brazil eased to a 32-6 win over France to reach the semi-finals, before Mexico earned a 46-13 victory over Italy.

The US will face Austria in tomorrow's semi-finals, while Brazil will play Mexico.

Competition is taking place at the Kraft Family Sports Campus, after the IFAF was granted an exemption to the country’s ban on visitors from overseas.

The top seven teams at the event in both the men’s and women’s competitions, excluding the US, qualify for the Birmingham 2022 World Games, where the sport is scheduled to make its debut - so the non-AMerican quarter-finalists.

The World Games are due to take place in Birmingham in Alabama from July 7 to 17 and will set to mark the first time that flag football has featured at a multi-sport event.
