Germany’s Lisa Buckwitz took full advantage as the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Women's Monobob World Series returned to Europe.

Buckwitz, who won gold in the women's bobsleigh at the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, dominated both runs at her home venue of Altenberg to win with an overall time of 2min 00.61sec.

She was followed home by Slovakia’s Viktoria Cernanska who finished 1.74 secs slower.

Third place went to Russia’s Alena Osipenko in a total time of 2:02.54, from Georgeta Popescu of Romania, who clocked 2:03.39.

Following the World Series race in Park City on Wednesday (November 24), where Canada's Alysia Rissling recorded her fifth victory in five starts, the circuit has returned to Europe for six events.

Germany’s Stephanie Schneider won the opening two European races in Lillehammer, with the United States’ Elana Meyers Taylor then topping the standings in Innsbruck.
