The World Athletics Cross Country Tour is set for its fifth Gold meeting of the season tomorrow at the Cross Internacional de Italica in Santiponce.

It is the fourth consecutive Gold event being held in Spain, following the Cross Internacional Zornoza in Amorebieta-Etxano, the Cross Internacional de Soria and the Cross de Atapuerca.

Tomorrow's meeting is being held in Santiponce, a town situated near to Seville.

Ethiopia's Tadese Worku is one of the standout names the field for the men's race over 10,092 metres, having triumphed at the Cross Internacional de Italica in January 2020.

He is also the under-20 3,000m world champion and a world cross country silver medallist in cross country.

However, all three medallists at last weekend's Gold meeting at Atapuerca will be aiming to build on their strong performances.

The women's 7,910m race will also feature the podium from Atapuerca.

Eritrea’s Rahel Daniel Ghebreneyohannes notched a surprise victory ahead of Kenya's Beatrice Chebet and Margaret Chelimo.

Another Kenyan runner in Norah Jeruto is likely to be a strong contender after a fourth-place finish at the Cross de Atapuerca.

Ethiopia's Senbere Teferi, who finished sixth in the 5,000m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will also compete in Santiponce.

A further nine Gold meetings are scheduled this season after the Cross Internacional de Italica.
