Sweden's James Blomgren and Singapore's Shayna Ng claimed the men's and women's singles titles tonight in the finals of the International Bowling Federation (IBF) Super World Championships, taking place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In the men's final, Blomgren defeated Finland's Tomas Käyhkö by a score of 278-233 to take the gold medal, following success in the trios quarter-finals yesterday.

The Swedish player won against Italian Nicola Pongolini earlier in the day in the semi-finals, while Käyhkö got the better of Geun Ji of South Korea to progress.

Ng was victorious in an all-Singaporean final with her compatriot Cherie Tan, breaking down in tears when she captured the gold medal.

Bronze medals went to Guatemala's Sofia Rodriguez, who lost to Ng, and Sarah Klassen of Canada, who came up second best against Tan.

Action continues tomorrow with the finals in the men's and women's doubles.
