Spectators at the opening match of the Twenty20 series between New Zealand and India next week must have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to gain access to the stadium, local authorities have announced.

The Rajasthan Cricket Association has announced the COVID-19 requirements for the game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday (November 17).

The guidelines include vaccination and providing a negative PCR test taken a maximum of 48 hours before the start of the match.

Wearing a mask is mandatory, while fans will also be subjected to thermal screening on entry to the stadium, set to host its first T20 international.

"Guidance was sought from the Home Department of the state Government on entry of spectators in the match while also complying with COVID-19 protocols," said RCA secretary Mahendra Sharma

"The RCA has got permission in this regard by the department for the entry of spectators in the match."

The match is the first on New Zealand's tour of India, scheduled to include three T20s and two Tests and last until December 7.

India were caught in COVID-19 controversy on their tour to England earlier this year when the fifth Test was called off due to fears of an increase in coronavirus cases in their team.

New Zealand today reached the final of the T20 World Cup, set to be played on Sunday (November 14) in Dubai.
