Following two impressive victories against higher ranked Germany in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey Pro League, Belgium will look to replicate their league-leading form when they meet The Netherlands in Amsterdam tomorrow.

It will be the second time that the Red Panthers have faced the reigning Olympic, world and European champions in under a month at the Wagener Stadium.

On October 13, the Dutch claimed a 2-0 win in the first Hockey Pro League match of the 2021-2022 season, with triple Olympic gold medallist Lidewij Welten opening the scoring after 17 seconds.

Despite the scoreline, the match was far from one-sided and Belgium's 1-0 and 3-1 triumphs over Germany will give the team confidence to take revenge.

Since the appointment of Dutchman Raoul Ehren, Belgium have improved greatly and currently sit seventh in the FIH hockey world rankings.

However, they face an enormous challenge against Alyson Annan's side, who have won both of the previous two women's Hockey Pro League editions.

Annan has named nine Olympic gold medallists from Tokyo 2020 for this match with Welten, captain Eva de Goede, Margot van Geffen, Pien Sanders and Xan de Waard leading the Oranje.

A trio of players are set to make their senior international debuts for the Oranje, with Tessa Clasener, Fiona Morgenstern and Pleun van der Plas all being given the chance to shine on the big stage as Annan - who in the October clash with Belgium gave debuts to Marente Barentsen and Joosje Burg - continues to look at the potential stars of the future.

In 19 meetings between the two nations, The Netherlands have won 16 and drawn one scoring 51 goals in the process and conceding just nine.

Tomorrow's match will be the fourth of the season and will be the last of 2021 with fixtures set to resume three months later when The Netherlands are scheduled to host Spain on February 4 and 5.

The season is then due to conclude on June 21 2022 with a match between the United States and India.
