World champion Julia Taubitz and last season’s World Cup champion Felix Loch are among Germany’s luge team for the upcoming campaign.

The German team was selected following four qualification races, which were held in Winterberg and Altenberg.

Taubitz led an all-German podium at the World Championships in Königssee earlier this year, followed by Natalie Geisenberger and Datjana Eitberger.

Taubitz also won the sprint title at the Championships.

Eight-time overall World Cup champion Geisenberger and Eitberger have also secured their spots in the German team for the season.

Geisenberger and Eitberger will hope to use the World Cup season to prepare for further success at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, with the duo having won individual gold and silver respectively at Pyeongchang 2018.

Anna Berreiter, the under-23 world champion, earned the final spot on the women’s team after the four qualification races.

Felix Loch enjoyed a dominant 2020 to 2021 World Cup season, winning nine of the 12 races to secure the seventh overall title of his career.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist and multiple world champion will be joined in the men’s team by World Cup runner-up Johannes Ludwig, Max Langenhan, Chris Eißler and Moritz Bollmann.

World champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken will lead Germany’s doubles teams, along with double Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt.

Robin Geueke and David Gamm complete Germany’s doubles selections.

International training weeks are planned to take place at the Yanqing Sliding Center in China at the start of November, with racers and coaches set to get a first-hand look at the course for next year's Winter Olympics, due to take place between February 4 and 20.

The World Cup season is scheduled to begin there on November 20 and 21.
