Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has been appointed as the official venue network infrastructure supporter for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Aruba, a HPE company, will provide networking solutions across the various venues at the Games for the approximate 4,500 athletes that are expected to compete.

It is claimed Aruba will "provide advanced network infrastructure", which aims to make the Games "more connected, more inclusive and more engaging than ever before."

Aruba systems will also help the staff and volunteer workforces to execute the logistics behind the Commonwealth Games, "allowing connectivity across the Games headquarters, the Technical Operations Centre and all other venues."

"It is fantastic to have Aruba join us as our official venue network infrastructure supporter for Birmingham 2022," said Birmingham 2022 chief information officer Adrian Corcoran said.

"Aruba, using their expertise as part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, are the ideal company to provide a complex and flexible network connection, enabling a seamless experience for our workforce, volunteers and athletes.

"This is such an integral part of Birmingham 2022 and we’re confident Aruba will help us bring the Games to life."

"Our experienced services team and edge-to-cloud platform deliver against these needs with automation, management and flexibility embedded, leaving the athletes and events team to focus on the joy that comes from sporting excellence."

HPE also says it is committed to contributing to the Games' legacy by ensuring much of the on-site equipment and technology used during the Games is made available for community schemes and initiatives.

Birmingham 2022 is due to get underway from July 28 next year, concluding on August 8.

Seventy-two nations and territories are expected to compete in 19 sports and eight Para sports across 14 competition venues.
