Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) President Deepa Malik has been made an independent director of Indian online travel agency Oyo Rooms.

Oyo's founder, Ritesh Agarwal, has been working on making the Board more inclusive in recent years.

"I have learnt during my journey that having a diverse Board is one of the best ways to inculcate lateral thinking," Agarwal said, per The Economic Times.

"Malik's experience and her passion for travel and adventure would be invaluable for Oyo for years to come."

The 51-year-old was elected PCI President in 2020 after running unopposed.

"I am also looking forward to contributing my perspective on promoting workforce diversity," Malik said, as reported by The Economic Times.

The Haryana native won silver medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in the women's F53 shot put competition.

She was the first Indian woman to win a medal at the quadrennial event after throwing a personal best of 4.61 metres.

Malik is also the only Indian woman to win medals in three consecutive Asian Para Games.
