FIFA has lifted its suspension of the Chadian Football Association (FTFA) after country's Government returned powers to the FTFA.

The FTFA had been suspended by FIFA since April, because the Minister of Youth and Sports dissolved it as part of an attempted Government takeover of the sport in Chad.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) also threw Chad out of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations because of the Government interference.

However, FIFA's suspension of the FTFA has now been ended following a Government climbdown.

FTFA President Moctar Mahamoud is back in control of the organisation's premises, FIFA said.

A decision which established a national committee for the temporary management of football has also been repealed by Chad's Government.

FIFA said it will send a joint mission with the CAF to Chadian capital N’Djamena "without delay" to take part in discussions with the Government and FTFA.

Chad were eliminated from qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup before this dispute began, losing to Sudan in September 2019.

The country's men's team have never qualified for either a World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations.
