Athletes have arrived in Florida for this year's World Waterski Championships, set to take place this week.

The event at Sunset Lakes is scheduled to begin tomorrow and conclude on Sunday (October 17).

World titles for men and women will be on offer in the jump, slalom and trick disciplines.

The competition is run by the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF).

It is being staged as part of the worldwide governing body's 75th anniversary celebrations.

Action is due to begin with slalom heats and preliminaries tomorrow, with an Opening Ceremony planned for the evening.

The women's slalom, women's trick and men's slalom finals are set for Saturday (October 16), before the Championships conclude with the last three gold medal events on Sunday (October 17).

The IWWF is scheduled to hold its World Congress on Thursday (October 14) to coincide with the Championships.

A series of COVID-19 protocols will be in operation at the event in the US, which has recorded the highest number of cases and deaths from the novel coronavirus in the world.
