The World Curling Federation (WCF) has opened the nomination process for its Athlete Commission election, with four spots to be filled.

Two male athlete representatives are to be elected this year, as well as a representative for mixed doubles and a wheelchair athlete too.

Canada's Nolan Thiessen and Scotland's David Murdoch currently hold these male representative positions.

Kim Forge of Australia represents mixed doubles and American Patrick McDonald is the current wheelchair athlete on the panel.

One male athlete is to be elected for two years until 2023, while another is to serve a four-year term until 2025.

A two-year term is to be served for the successful mixed doubles candidate and the wheelchair representative is to be on the Athlete Commission until 2025.

The other two spots on the Athlete Commission are not up for election until 2023, with both of these being reserved for female representatives.

These are currently Jill Officer of Canada and the Czech Republic's Anna Kubešková.

Eligible athletes must have either competed at a World Championship or the Olympic or Paralympic Games in the last five years.

One athlete-at-large position is to be appointed following an agreement between the Athlete Commission and the WCF Board, and this can only be filled by an unsuccessful candidate who applied for a position in 2021.

Members of the WCF Athlete Commission also sit on the WCF's Competition and Rules Commission and the Nominating Committee.

Those interested in applying must submit a nomination in a statement of no more than 500 words, explaining why they are seeking election.

It must be supported by a National Federation and to be eligible, athletes must not have received a sanction for violation Olympic Movement Code on Prevention of Manipulation of Competitions or face any doping sanctions.

Applications must be submitted by October 22 and an election is to be held electronically in November.
