European champion Daria Abramova from Russia defeated Asian champion Sitora Turdibekova of Uzbekistan in the women's under-57 kilogram category, on the second day of the World Military Boxing Championships in Moscow.

On home soil, she unanimously defeated her opponent, while Chandrakala Thapa of Nepal was a unanimous winner in the same category against Juliana Kasonka of Zimbabwe.

Belarus' Dzmitry Asanau set himself up as one of the gold medal contenders in the men's under-64kg, having won unanimously against Armenia's Narek Hovhannisyan.

In the same category, Mohammad Musatat of Syria knocked out Kyana Mazera from the Ivory Coast in the second round, and Aitzhan Ashirhan from Kazakhstan defeated Russian Aleksei Mazur by split decision 3:2.

Lorye Ruyer of France and Krisandi Rios Ojeda of Venezuela both won their fights against Ajeewani Muthuthanthri Patabendige of Sri Lanka and Belarus' Ala Staradub.

They are now to face each other in the semi-finals of the women's under-60kg.

In that same weight category, Brazil's Beatriz Ferreira defeated Russia's Nune Asatrian after a protest overturned a split decision between the pair.

The favourite now faces Raykhona Kodirova of Uzbekistan in the other semi-final.

Kazakhstan's Temirtaz Zhussupov unanimously won in the men's under-49kg against South Korean Busmeo Kwak, and Kenya's Abendego Kayloo won his match in the same weight class over Pakistan's Muhammad Saeed.

In the under-75kg, Park Jin-hun from South Korea won his opening match against Aleksandar Nikolic of Serbia.

The finals are set to take place on Saturday (September 25).
