Mike Schloesser is expected to take the European Field Archery Championships 2021 in Poreč in Croatia by storm, with a total of 19 gold medals available at the event.

The world number one is tipped to take the men's compound title with ease as the closest ranked archer to him is Croatia's Domagoj Buden.

The duo met in March in Poreč in the quarter-finals of the 2021 European Grand Prix where the Dutchman won by a whisker 147-146.

Schloesser has won one gold medal in the World Archery Championships but is set to take his maiden title on the continental stage.

The hosts have compound women's favourite Amanda Mlinaric on the team.

The 20-year-old recently secured her second consecutive title at the World Archery Youth Championships, beating India's Sakshi Chaudhury.

The world number 19 is the highest ranked in her division at the event.

Italy is taking the largest team, being represented by 25 competitors while 191 archers in total will be at the tournament.

The country has the oldest athlete in the tournament in Ferruccio Berti, born on October 4, 1953, who is scheduled to shoot in the barebow men and barebow men FQT (Para) events.

Meanwhile, Slovenia is represented by the youngest competitor, Metka Obljubek, born December 21 2006, in the junior recurve.

There are set to be men's, women's, junior and Para competitions in recurve, compound and barebow disciplines.

The competition begins with two official practice sessions before the competition rounds are due to take place on September 7.
