The code, which applies from January 1 2022 to December 31 2024, was updated following a four-year process led by the Rhythmic Gymnastics Technical Committee.

It was approved by the FIG Executive Committee before its release.

As part of work to update the Code of Points, a symposium was held, led by FIG President Morinari Watanabe in Moscow in January 2020.

More than 80 representatives from 45 countries, mainly judges and coaches, were present at the symposium.

The FIG said the new Code of Points aimed to improve the way artistry was considered in rhythmic gymnastics, while also helping to make the discipline’s rules clearer to understand for a non-specialist audience.

The 226-page document is split into two parts for individual and team exercises, with sections focusing on difficulty, artistry and execution.

Earlier this year, new Codes of Points were released for the men’s and women’s artistic, trampoline, acrobatic and aerobic gymnastics disciplines.
