Spain's Sergio Moya now tops the Global Champions Tour (GCT) standings following a win at the latest CSI5* Grand Prix in Berlin, snatching the lead from Edwina Tops-Alexander of Australia.

Moya, with horse Alamo, finished in 36.40sec in the showjumping event, marginally ahead of German Marcus Ehning with Stargold.

Frenchman Kevin Staut claimed the bronze medal with Tolede de Mescam Harcour.

Dutch rider Bart Bles with Comme-Laude W was fourth and Italy's Alberto Zorzi with Cinsey was fifth.

In the overall Championship, Moya has 158 points - six in front of Tops-Alexander after she failed to qualify for the GCT Grand Prix.

Peder Fredricson of Sweden is still third on 149 points.

"I am crazy happy, I am delighted with the horse," said Moya.

"He deserves a win and he tries so hard every time so I am really really happy for my horse.

"Ehning is always very dangerous but so are the others.

"I know my horse is fast in the jump-off and today I am just so pleased."

Moya's win means he has qualified for the Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix at the Global Champions Playoffs in the Czech capital Prague.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea in London is set to host the next leg of the GCT from August 13 to 15.
