Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) is seeking to appoint a community engagement manager in the lead-up to Birmingham 2022.

The new appointee will play a key role in building and delivering community engagement activities to celebrate athletes before and during next year’s Commonwealth Games.

CGA has embarked on a programme of alumni, community and education activities and events celebrating Australia's Commonwealth Games history and looking forward to Birmingham 2022.

It says the person who fills the new post "will take the lead on projects that build our connection with alumni and future Commonwealth Games team members, along with our Games-time community engagement activities during the Birmingham Games".

The role is a contract position through to the end of 2022, with a view to continuing post-2022.

A degree in marketing, communications, sport business management or another relevant discipline is desired, along with a strong interest in the Commonwealth Games, the sports contested and CGA's athletes.

Australia hosted the last Commonwealth Games, in Gold Coast in 2018, and topped the medals table by winning 80 events.

Since Auckland 1990, the CGA delegation has finished top of the medals table at all bar one edition of the Commonwealth Games.

GCA is following its First Among Equals Strategic Plan until 2026, and connecting with communities is one of the five stated aims of the document.
