Spyros Capralos has visited the European Olympic Committees (EOC) offices in Rome for the first time since his election as President of the continental body last month.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Capralos discussed topics, including the 2023 European Games in Kraków-Małopolska, with EOC secretary general Raffaele Pagnozzi during his stay in the Italian capital.

The EOC's strategic plan, European Youth Olympic Festivals and an update on the organisation's activities and other projects were among the other topics on the agenda.

Capralos also met with Italian National Olympic Committee President and fellow IOC member Giovanni Malagò in Rome.

"Our main goal is to support and satisfy our 50 European National Olympic Committees (NOCs)," said Capralos.

"We need to understand where we currently are as an organisation, what the NOCs need from us, and then determine what we can do better for them moving forward."

Capralos, who beat Acting President Niels Nygaard to become the head of the umbrella body at its General Assembly in Athens, visited the Italian capital prior to travelling to Tokyo for the postponed Olympic Games.

The Greek will lead his country's delegation at the Games, set to open on July 23.

"I would like to wish the best of luck to all the European athletes who have prepared so well for these challenging Games," said Capralos.

"We are all looking forward to our continent once again having a very strong and successful Games and returning with a large haul of medals and showing how strong sport in Europe really is."
