The Cape Verde Olympic Committee (COC) held a two-day preparatory seminar for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in which final preparation details were discussed.

The seminar - which took a hybrid online and in-person format - was aimed at providing all the logistical and operational information necessary for Cape Verde's effective participation in the Olympics.

It was based at the Business Incubation Center in Palmarejo.

The COC has so far selected four athletes for the Games - rhythmic gymnast Márcia Lopes, boxer David Pina and swimmers Troy Pina and Jayla Pina.

The siblings will be the first swimmers to represent the nation at the Olympics.

The seminar also included a presentation on preventing the manipulation of competition results by Joana Gonçalves, manager of the integrity programme of the Olympic Committee of Portugal.

This was followed by a session with the team doctor, Humberto Évora.

Five Cape Verdean athletes contested the Rio 2016 Games, and the country is yet to win an Olympic medal.
