India have retaken the lead against New Zealand at the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship Final at the Hampshire Bowl in Southampton in England, following a washout yesterday on the fourth day.

Previously in the first innings, Ajinkya Rahane was India's top scorer with 49 runs including five fours, which left them with a total of 217 runs from 92.1 overs.

New Zealand started the day trailing by 116 runs with a score of 102-2, and by the end of the day, they would take the lead after the first innings with 249 runs.

Devon Conway scored 54 runs, while team mate Kane Williamson managed 49 of his own to help his side to the lead.

BJ Watling could only manage one run while Neil Wagner was out for a duck.

However, Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson did their part to put New Zealand in front despite being later order batters, scoring 30 and 21 runs each respectively.

Following the tea break, India started their second innings and took the lead, partly due to Rohit Sharma whose runs put his team back in front with only one out.

Sharma was eventually out for 30 runs, with Cheteshwar Pujara and captain Virat Kohli not out at the end of the play.

India ended the day on 64-2, putting them 32 runs ahead of New Zealand.

Today was due to be the final day of the match, but due to weather interruptions a reserve sixth day is being used tomorrow, meaning there is still time for either side to force a win.

In the event of a draw, the trophy will be shared.
