World Skate has announced the second World Scooter Championships will be held in Barcelona in September.

The organisation, which governs the discipline as well as the likes of skateboarding and roller skating, has scheduled the event for September 25 and 26.

It is set to take place as part of the Extreme Barcelona urban sports festival at the Parc del Forum.

Barcelona held the inaugural World Scooter Championships, staged alongside the World Roller Games in the Spanish city in 2019.

World titles will be on offer in the men's and women's street categories at the second edition of the event.

"We are so excited to come back to Barcelona with the scooter World Championships," said World Skate President Sabatino Aracu.

"One of the youngest sports in one of the cities that youth love most, such a perfect match.

"We all are looking forward to being back in Barcelona.

"Barcelona is surely one of the cities where our legacy is stronger for all our sports.

"Here we hold the last edition of the World Roller Games in 2019 just before COVID forced us to such a long stop from competitions."

The Championships will be organised in partnership with urban sports competition provider SevenMila.

"It is a great privilege to partner with World Skate to bring back Scooter World Championships for 2021," said SevenMila urban sports director Victor Casanovas.

"Extreme Barcelona has always been very committed to help scooter grow and become one of the most relevant urban sports."
