The United States will start as firm favourites for the International Swimming Federation Women's Water Polo World League Super Final as they look to defend their 2019 title in the absence of some of the top European teams.

Silver medallists in 2019 Italy will not participate, nor will semi-finalists The Netherlands or France.

Spain, Kazakhstan and the hosts Greece are set to face the defending champions in Group B at the Athens Olympic Aquatic Centre in Athens.

Canada, Hungary, Japan and 2019 bronze medallists Russia are set to compete in Group A.

Hungary and Canada return to the Super Final too after sixth and seventh-placed finishes two years ago.

Competition is scheduled to start tomorrow before ending on Saturday (June 19).

Teams are due to play in the first three days of the tournament in the preliminary rounds to decide the seedings in the group stage.

From there, all nations will face each other on Thursday (June 17) in the quarter-finals.

Spain is set to play Kazakhstan in the opening match, followed by Japan against Hungary; Canada against Russia and the US against hosts Greece.

The US has won every Super Final since 2014 - with China being the last nation to otherwise do so in 2013.
