Brazil's reigning mixed doubles world champions Natalia Guitler and Marquinhos Vieira won their home nation's inaugural National Challenger Series on their return to action.

Guitler and Marquinhos lost only one set in the round robin section, winning all five matches to enter the knockout stage as the number one seed.

They defeated Leonardo Santana and Rafaella Fontes 12-5, 12-9 in the semi-finals, before setting up a final with group stage runners-up Leonardo Lindoso De Almeida and Vania Moraes Da Cruz.

After losing the opening set, the world champions bounced back to defeat Lindoso De Almeida and Moraes Da Cruz 8-12, 12-7, 12-8.

Santana and Fontes won the bronze medal after overcoming Matheus Ferraz and Thuany Karoline Platt 11-12, 12-5, 12-9.

In the singles category, Lucas Bernardes dropped just a single set on his way to the gold medal.

He faced Leonardo Silva Da Silveira in the quarter-finals, winning 12-11, 12-8, before emerging victorious against Claudio Davi Ponte Dos Santos 12-9, 12-11 in the final four.

Bernardes defeated Lindoso De Almeida in the final after coming through a tight contest on the right side of a 12-11, 12-11 scoreline.

Ferraz beat Ponte Dos Santos 10-12, 12-11, 12-5 for the bronze medal.

In other National Challenger Series competitions, Eswatini National Federation President Taribo Bhembe booked his singles and doubles spots for the 2021 Teqball World Championships with golds in both categories.

Luis Fernando Caetano Dos Santos claimed the singles title in Portugal, while Amaury Bischoff Armindo and Baptiste Berna won the doubles gold and Dyego Ferreira Sousa and Beatriz Vieira Da Silva sealed the mixed doubles title.
