Königssee in Germany has been announced as the venue for the 2022 International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Junior World Championships.

The German track, a regular host of major IBSF events, is due to stage the Championships from January 17 to 23.

The IBSF had scheduled the Junior Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships but had not confirmed the venue when it published its provisional calendar for the 2021-2022 season in April.

Königssee is also set to host a leg of the IBSF World Cup circuit from November 29 to December 5 as part of three consecutive competitions in Germany.

The track has staged six editions of the IBSF World Championships, the last coming in 2017, when it replaced Sochi following the Russian doping scandal.

The entire IBSF World Cup season will be held in Europe, which the worldwide governing body said "gives everyone involved more flexibility" to react to the coronavirus pandemic.

It means North America will not host any World Cup legs for the second successive campaign, but the IBSF said tracks in the United States and Canada will be back on the agenda in seasons after the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
