Italy’s Chiara Cainero and Gabriele Rossetti celebrated victory in skeet finals at the European Shooting Championships in Osijek.

Cainero, the Beijing 2008 women’s skeet champion, earned the sixth European title of her career in the Croatian city.

Cainero hit 50 of her 60 targets in the final to clinch gold with Russia’s Zilia Batyrshina finishing as runner-up on 48.

Britain’s Amber Hill completed the podium places after being eliminated on 38 points.

The men’s final saw a battle between Rossetti and Cyprus’ Georgios Achilleos for the title.

Reigning Olympic champion Rossetti emerged as the winner with 55 targets struck.

Achilleos finished as the runner-up on 53, with Finland’s Eetu Kallioinen taking bronze on 45.

Italian success continued in the junior events, with Cristian Ghilli, Francesco Bernardini and Giammarco Tuzi winning the men’s skeet title.

The trio earned a 6-4 win over Cyprus’ Kleanthis Varnavides, Sotiris Andreou and Petros Englezoudis.

Britain’s Mitchell Brooker-Smith, Arran Eccleston and Oliver Harrison won bronze, after overcoming rivals Czech Republic 7-1.

A fourth Italian gold of the day came in the women’s junior 25 metres event.

Margherita Brigida Veccaro earned victory by finishing the competition with 28 points, two clear of Russia’s Albina Bevz.

Hungary’s Miriam Jako was eliminated in third place on 23.

Russia celebrated a comfortable victory in the junior 50m three positions rifle mixed team event.

Igor Skuratov and Alina Khizbullina earned a 31-21 win over Hungary’s Eszter Denes and Soma Richard Hammerl.

Hungary also earned bronze with Eszter Meszaros and Viktor Kiss securing a 32-28 win over Serbia’s Marija Kolarevic and Marko Ivanovic.

The women’s junior skeet event is set to take place tomorrow.
