Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway are set to face Qatar's Cherif Samba and Ahmed Tijan in a final for the second time in six days after both pairs advanced at the second of three four-star tournaments at the International Volleyball Federation Beach World Tour hub in Cancun.

The Norwegians first defeated Poland's Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Łosiak in the quarter-finals, coming from a set down to win 22-24, 21-14, 15-13.

They confirmed their place in the final with another three-set victory, this time over Brazil's Alison Cerutti and Alvaro Filho, 21-8, 18-21, 15-12.

Cherif and Ahmed, who lost out to Mol and Sørum in the first final at the Playa Delfines, defeated Rio 2016 silver medallists Daniele Lupo and Paolo Nicolai of Italy 21-17, 21-16 in the quarter-finals.

The Qataris then beat a second Italian duo, Adrian Carambula and Enrico Rossi, 21-16, 21-10 in the last four.

"Tomorrow it will be different, I promise," said Tijan of the upcoming match.

"We're going to come to the match differently and it won't be the same game for Norway, it's not going to be like the previous one, I can 100 per cent guarantee."

In the women's final, Brazil's Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa are due to play Russians Svetlana Kholomina and Nadezda Makroguzova.

Rio 2016 runner-up Bednarczuk and Duda were dominant in both their ties today en route to the final, first defeating Austria's Lena Plesiutschnig and Katharina Schützenhöfer 21-13, 21-14 in the quarter-finals.

The Brazilian pair made the final with a 21-12, 21-12 win over Dutch veterans Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink.

"I think serving well was really important today," said Duda.

"We had set a strategy with our coach coming up to the game, but once we entered the stadium we decided to change it because of the wind and it worked really well for us.

"We also played as a team and communicated the entire time during the match and that made the difference."

Their opponents in the final, Kholomina and Makroguzova were also dominant in the quarter-finals, winning 21-18, 21-8 againt Germany's Karla Borger and Julia Sude.

The Russians booked their place in the final with a 22-20, 21-18 upset victory over Americans April Ross and Alix Klineman.

Finals will be played tomorrow in the Mexican city, with the event part of the Tokyo 2020 qualifying process.
