Athletes including reigning world bouldering, lead and combined champion Janja Garnbret have entered the competition, which begins tomorrow and concludes on Saturday (April 17).

It is set to be the first World Cup in any sport climbing discipline to be held this year.

The event will be staged behind closed doors and a series of COVID-19 protocols will be in operation.

Switzerland's Petra Klinger said she would miss competing in front of fans but thanked organisers for ensuring the event could go ahead amid the pandemic.

"I will miss my home crowd a lot, but I will give my best for them and for all the people organising and making this amazing competition possible," Klinger wrote on Instagram.

Competitors will use the event to help with their preparations for Tokyo 2020, where sport climbing is due to make its debut at the Games.

The IFSC confirmed the list of qualified athletes for Tokyo 2020 last month.

The Games have been pushed back to 2021 because of the global health crisis.
